Introduction Video (Elevator Speech)
You've got somebody's attention for a short introduction. Who are you? What do you do?
Why should I consider hiring YOU??
Community/Neighborhood Video
Craig’s suggestion is to treat these like somebody is moving to your area. What would you tell them?
What are the options for areas for them to live in. What schools and amenities are available in the area?
Featured Business (Business to Business)
Recommendations and reviews are becoming more and more useful to us in the internet age. Help somebody connect with a business that is feature worthy. Tell us why they have something special that is worth our attention. In the real estate industry, there are many businesses that we interact with such as home inspectors, home stagers, and mortgage professionals. Consider an interview with such persons. Show them “on duty” perhaps on one of their jobs. Besides this, we have lots of other local businesses that we can feature such as restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, retail stores, specialty stores.
Featured Place
There are special places all around us that we know because we are experts about our local area. If somebody is moving into our area and starts off knowing nothing, what would you share? Examples include parks, lakes, hiking trails, outdoor activities, scenic views, picnic spots, ball parks, playgrounds, historical sites
Featured Event
In our local areas, there are many events throughout the year. Some events may be more well known than others. If you create videos about the events, you may be found on google/youtube searches for the more well known ones. For lesser known ones, you will help people see what they otherwise would have missed. Examples include concerts and parades, festivals, street fairs, music and drama events at local high schools and colleges.
Home For Sale (Listings)
In the era we live in, most people will FIRST see the home that they eventually purchase ONLINE before they even step foot in the door. Make your listing stand out with a virtual tour that is not just a “slideshow with some music”. Give us motion video shots, pan a room, highlight the features. Narrate the home tour with a voiceover track. You will find many examples linked on the video inspiration page
Testimonials
People trust reviews. Someone briefly relating their firsthand experience in working with you has a tremendous amount of weight. Don’t make it overly complex and not every client will want to be in front of a camera. However many will want to help you in this way and a couple of minutes is all that it takes of video runtime! To make it more interesting, add a little clip at the start or end that relates to what it is that you helped them with (e.g. show them “walking up to the house” or “sitting on the front porch” as a cutaway clip or intro and/or exit clip).
Answering Questions (“Ask the Expert”)
You are an expert at what you do. You hear many of the same questions asked of you all the time. What happens at a home inspection? What is a home warranty good for? What is the best time of year to sell your house? Any question that you get repeatedly is great material to turn into a written blog post or a video blog post. The advantage of the latter is that somebody who doesn’t know you gets to see you and add a whole new layer of trust in you and your expertise
Interviews
Interviews are a way to add the additional expertise of those who work closely with you in your industry. They can help you answer some common questions with the added depth that their experience brings. (in exchange, they get some great business to business air time for possible new referrals). For example you could ask a mortgage expert to explain points and how they work. If you are featuring a local business, you may interview the owner or manager to include as a part of the overall presentation video.
Instructional Videos/Tutorials
Screen capture applications allow you to demonstrate some things that you can do on the web that would be helpful for others to see. For example, if you have an IDX home search on your website, you would get more people to sign up if they knew how to search my map or search by home’s features. Do they know they can save their favorites and get email alerts for new listings and price changes? Show them. Watch for more to register
Just For Fun
Not every video you create has to be business specific and serious in nature. Show your personality a little. Have a little fun with your audience. In the inspiration list, you will see examples: Irene shares a great recipe, Nyssa finds something in her yard, Cindy goes hiking, Karen goes out to explore some fun summer activities
Andy Mooers - Introduction
Andy Mooers - Home for Sale
Andy is the true video pro. Have you watched home tours in luxury homes and said “anybody could make
this home look nice?” Andy takes a ‘challenged’ home and aces this video presentation. If this home
can get a video, than Any home can get a video tour!

Dale Chumbley - Mexican Food
Dale had a 365 blogging challenge which included lots of short videos where we really get to know him.
His handheld style worked out for him, though in class, we will generally discourage.
Notice the extra wide pillarboxes! This is when you shoot with phone upright – don’t let me catch you doing this! :)
Dale Chumbley - Mon Ami Crepes
Dale simply put together two clips and does some basic captions. I have a hunch he does all this on
his iMovie app on his iPhone. Check out some delicious looking crepes as he goes inside to have a
look. (also shot in upright mode but be forewarned of my review if you do this in my class)

I’ll tell you more about it!). Notice though his in front of camera narrative skills – well
done!
